Co-Founder of SUPtown Music & Arts, Michael Gilsinan is a proven leader in his field with vast capabilities — following an unconventional career path. Under his guidance, FLSM has taught 60,000+ lessons, hosted 50+ concerts; and created Fort Lee's first guitar orchestra. Emphasizing practical skills in conjunction with fundamentals of music; Michael continues to hone his own “Where Fun Meets Challenging!” approach to music education.

As a performer, Michael’s signature is the modernization of traditional styles of music, at times, using multinational instruments in combination with the guitar. Michael has been a featured guitarist-in-concert at:

  • Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C.

  • Sydney Opera House, Australia

  • Wesleyan University, Connecticut

  • Teatro Nacional, Panama

  • Camerata Hall, South Korea

  • Smithsonian, Washington, D.C.

  • Sheen Center, New York, NY.

  • Marshall University, West Virginia

  • Towson University, Maryland

  • University of Nebraska-Lincoln

In November 2001, majoring in Audio Engineering, Michael graduated from Institute of Audio Research in Greenwich Village. Michael later studied with Michael Newman, earning a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Guitar Performance from Mannes College with a focus on Performance and Business Development.

Michael lives in midtown, Manhattan with his wife, Gigi Lau Gilsinan.
